Peter McMillan

From Romantic Love, Power Struggle, to Mature Love

Peter will unpack the stages a relationship usually goes thru and how to navigate them, saying YES to the healing and growth journey that committed relationship catapults one into:  the journey from romantic love thru to mature love.  He will demonstrate a process of structured dialogue which enables couples to be present to, and hold safely, in a connected way, all the challenges, pain and ruptures that committed relationship provokes.

Peter McMillan

Peter is passionate about the potential for sustainable, long-term, life-giving relationships for couples. He was in relationship with Brenda Rawlings for 30+ years, married for 25. After a 2 1/2 year journey with brain cancer, Brenda passed over in February 2022. After the very difficult early years of their relationship, Peter and Brenda committed themselves to the healing and growth journey that long-term relationship calls one into, experiencing in their latter years, what they would describe as, ‘mature love’. Peter has been committed to the human/spiritual journey towards consciousness for 40+ years, attending numerous workshops, retreats and trainings in personal growth, relationships, bodywork, sexuality, meditation and spirituality.  Peter specialises in working with relationships. He is a Certified imago Relationship Therapist, Workshop Presenter and Clinical Instructor.  He is on the teaching faculty of the Imago International Training Institute.  He has a Masters Degree in Counselling and a Diploma of Teaching.  Peter and Brenda offered workshops for couples and trainings for counsellors, psychologists and psychotherapists throughout New Zealand and Australia for 20+ years. Peter now continues this work on his own. He is known as a dynamic presenter and an excellent teacher with a keen intellect and a warm, compassionate manner.  He is a musician who leads the nine-piece band, Imperfect Offering, the Leonard Cohen Experience.
